Officially incorporated in 1893, Rocklin history started when Joel Parker Whitney established Spring Valley Ranch. In 1910, the mining of granite started in Rocklin and even today the granite mined from Rocklin is used in kitchens and monument signs. Rocklin has one school district, Rocklin Unified School district, featuring many great elementary and state of the art high schools, also in the area is Sierra College and William Jessup University, a private Christian university. Roseville is a city in very close proximity.
