Auburn is one of California’s earliest mining towns, located right in the middle of Gold Country. During the Gold Rush in 1848,James Marshall, a miner, discovered gold in the Auburn Ravine. Auburn shortly became a shipping and supply center for gold camps. Auburn has many historical attractions that draw visitors from all over the country including, the Auburn Iron Works, Joss House, Old Town Firehouse, the Placer County Courthouse, Commercial Street, Hotel Auburn, Auburn City Hall and Fire Station, and the Bernhard House. To tell the truth, Auburn is absolutely beautiful with a very friendly atmosphere.
